Home is a place where dreams begin. Nothing helped me learn this more fully than a five-year work stint in Kuwait, which ended just as the pandemic hit in 2020. For me, Covid was a time for rekindling my love for the Western North Carolina mountains and for finding love in them! The summer following my return from Kuwait, I met my husband, Brian, who is a full-time firefighter with Saluda Fire & Rescue and professional kayak instructor. He and I live on the Green River in Saluda with our dog, Maggie. In just a short time, I went from being surrounded by hot, dry desert to viewing the Green River from our kitchen window, grabbing my kayak, and riding its waters down through the gorge, or going for a hike or trail run along its banks!

I love Saluda so much, and I feel so privileged to live on such a beautiful property and be a member of such a welcoming community! When I am not hiking by the river, I’m up the mountain spending time at my favorite coffee shops (Openroad in Tryon or Wakey Monkey in Saluda), enjoying one of the many yummy restaurants in our area (Purple Onion in Saluda, White Duck Taco in Hendersonville, or Side Street Pizza in Tryon) or spending time with my family in Hendersonville, who have lived there for almost 25 years. You might also find me volunteering at the Visitor's Center when I'm not out on the town!
